The News
Money Magazine named Vero Beach one of the "Top Beach Towns" and
Sebastian one of "The Best Places to Live on the Coast."
Vero Beach was listed #7 of the best "emerging" areas according
to the book Cities Ranked and Rated. Vero Beach was described as an "upscale
beach community but with a high cost of living by Florida standards."
Coastal Living Magazine's Senior Editor, Stu Millburg, calls Sebastian a
distinctive place that is not 'generica' – places that look just like
other places with the same stores and strip malls. "Sebastian was an
old fishing village and it's moved away from that, but it still has that
feel, that relaxing sense of life," Millburg said.
Other accolades for Vero Beach includes a #1 rank as "the best small
town in Florida and 12th in the nation" by America's Guide to Small
Towns. The artistic side of Vero Beach gained the town recognition as one
of the "top 10 art towns in the country."
More About Vero Beach
A little about Indian River County and Vero Beach. Indian River County is
centrally located on Florida's East coast. Rightfully called the Treasure
Coast, this area is rich in history, natural resources and the benefits
of the climate for which the Sunshine State is famous. Offshore, the waters
of the Gulf Stream ensure daytime temperatures that seldom drop below 70
degrees. From the barrier island's twenty-three miles of golden beaches
to the azure waters of the Indian and Sebastian Rivers and the lush farm
and woodlands, Indian River County is a place where people and businesses
thrive and grow. Living is easy in communities of single family homes designed
to suit every lifestyle, from affordably comfortable to the ultimate in
luxury.
They line the streets of established city neighborhoods or overlook golf
course fairways, pastoral settings and expanses of ocean, river or lake.
All lie within a short distance of necessary services, shopping, cultural
and recreational resources.
The county's Public Schools System provides innovative quality education
preparing students for the 21st century and beyond. West of Vero Beach, the
Indian River Community College expands the educational horizons for area
young people and adults. Both the college and public schools provide vocational
and technical training for Indian River County's labor force. The classroom
is as big as all outdoors at the Environmental Learning Center and at several
natural wildlife areas throughout the county. An integral part of community
life, the county libraries' collections are enhanced with up-to-date computerized
systems, hardware/software and audio/visual equipment.
Medical care is state of the art in Indian River County's two hospitals.
Residents are served by a wide range of highly qualified health care professionals.
In an emergency, paramedics, professional firefighters and law enforcement
officials are just a phone call away. Spiritual needs are met by houses of
worship representing all Christian denominations, as well as other religious
affiliations.
In addition to its beaches and waters for swimming,
surfing, scuba diving, boating, fishing and other water sports, Indian River County's parks offer
countless opportunities for recreation and enjoying the out-of-doors. Eighteen
golf courses allow for all levels of play and tennis facilities are widely
available. Add Dodgertown Stadium, the 6,500 seat Spring training home of
the Los Angeles Dodgers, Disney's Vero Beach Resort and a host of museums,
theaters, restaurants, night spots and shopping areas and you have the makings
of an incomparable quality of life.
